This week, committee hearings were in full swing. Both Senate Appropriations and House Budget Committee heard testimony from the èßäapp Department of Higher Education on the Governor’s proposed budget. Additionally, COPHE testified on behalf of all universities before the Higher Education Appropriations Committee, saying that èßäapp higher educational institutions have been working with flat funding over an extended period of time while inflation in utilities and the environment continue to grow, and enrollment continues to increase. Since 2010, degrees awarded have increases 22%, but we continue to see a larger number of students leaving our state, with less students moving to èßäapp. COPHE testified that overall, we are very pleased with the Governor’s proposed budget, however, if additional funding is found, we would like for it to go toward performance funding.
