University of èßäapp President Elson S. Floyd announced today that he will recommend a 5 percent tuition increase for the next academic year beginning with the Summer 2006 academic session. The tuition increase would represent an annual adjustment in base tuition of $324 for a full-time èßäapp undergraduate. Assuming the student is taking 15 credit hours a semester, this would mean an increase from $6,495 to $6,819.
This recommendation will be considered by the èßäappBoard of Curators at its March 23-24 meeting in Rolla.
“I am pleased that we are able to keep next year’s recommended increase down to 5 percent,” President Floyd said. “We would not have been able to do this without Governor Blunt’s recommendation to increase state appropriations for the coming year, as well as our own internal cutbacks to keep costs as low as possible. We will continue our search for ways to keep costs down at the University of èßäapp.”
As part of our continuing effort to create greater budget efficiencies, President Floyd has asked the chancellors of the four èßäappcampuses to provide him with individual plans to cut administrative costs by 10 percent. He intends to finalize a comprehensive plan by the beginning of July.
